Laura Kern, MA, LPC
Laura is a Licensed Professional Counselor with several years proficiency in trauma issues, couples counseling, anxiety, depression, Women’s’ health, gender identity, managing chronic illness/injury, breast cancer support, academic & career challenges and navigating relationship issues. She works primarily with adults, young adults and adolescents. Laura’s counseling style is tailored to each individual’s place of need, working collaboratively to enhance personal growth and healing in a supportive and empathetic environment. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy are some of the therapeutic strategies utilized to assist clients in their growth.
Laura also has a background in higher education, remedial instruction, mental wellness, child advocacy and chronic illness & injury. She has worked in private practice and as a contract agency therapist. As a counselor and adjunct college instructor, Laura has worked within many cultural populations helping students of all ages with a variety of challenges. She has instructed and presented on many topics including mental health/wellness and stress management.
Her Master’s Degree is in Counseling and she holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Communications. Her affiliations include the American Counseling Association, Missouri Mental Health and Counselor Association, St. Louis Psychological Association and Voices for Children/CASA.
