The main goal of reunification therapy (i.e. Family Counseling) is to reintroduce a parent (or parents) back into a child’s life in a safe, controlled and therapeutic manner.  The process of reunification can sometimes take an extended amount of time, but is designed to ensure a safe environment for the children and parents involved to create a new bond under the supervision of a clinician.

Reunification Therapy is also used to repair a damaged parent-child relationship within the context of a high conflict divorce or following a high conflict divorce.  It is implemented to help children and parents safely discuss issues/concerns that need to be worked out, when a parenting plan is not being followed or when a child is resistant to maintaining a relationship with one parent or has a problematic relationship with a parent.
